Run PlayOn to stream content via Plex

I have been looking at getting a NAS to run Plex and also be able to run VM’s mostly the VM’s would be off and turned on when i want to play around for Linux or run PlayOn in order to be able to stream more content via Plex.

Synology plus series or Qnap plus or B series will be enough to create a virtual machine on your NAS. This will mean an little Windows runing on the NAS. Then PlayOn can be installed and it will do its recording tasks. Plex then connects to the folder of the recordings from the virtual machine and plays the recordings. Or If you choose Qnap – it is even easier. Use the HDMI port to stream directly from the Windows on the virtual machine.
