TS-453B alternative

Well a few days ago there were still some TS-453B’s available in the U.S., but they seem to be all gone now… A few in Europe, but at the $1000 price point which is the same as the new TS-453BT3. So what’s the second choice?

TS-453A‘s are still available at $770
TVS-471 at $950
TS-473 $640

Seems like the TS-451+ and TS-451A are both a bit lacking… 451+ only does 1080p, 451A is Dual-Core rather than Quad.

Haven’t researched the specs, but some possible eBay options:

$500 – TS-459 Pro+, Used w/original accessories and software, does not disclose RAM, assuming no HDDs
$600 – TS-453 Pro, Used w/4x 3TB 7200 RPM SATA HDDs, RAM not disclosed
$575 – TS-453 Pro, New open box
$780 – TS-470 Pro, Used, 2GB, 2x 4TB HDDs
$550 – TS-569 Pro, Refurb – like new, 1GB, No HDDs

With the TS-453B not looking like an option, I seem to be gravitating up the product line. Is this the direction to go? Or, should I just jump in with something like a TS-251 to get my feet wet, then upgrade in a year or so?

Yes, Qnap is having difficulties to supply America with TS-453B series. You may find a TS-453Be series which is practically the same NAS with a few bits removed connection-wise. But if B series does not interest you I would go for TS-473 from the list you provided. It is a good NAS with a dial PCI – potential upgradability later. The old PRO series will do a job, but are now dated and might not be supported soon.
