Greetings, I have been a fan of your for a while on YouTube which lead me to buy the Synology 1817+, got a couple of Seagate Iron Wolf PRO 10TB each, and when you praised the M2D18 I got that as well, trying to be smart I got the WD Black 1TBGB High-Performance NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD – Gen3, 8 Gb/s – WDS100T2X0C from Amazon but when I went to the Synology 1817+ I could not create my Cache, where Sir did I go wrong and oh the reason why I took the 1TB SSD I wanted the best and fastest read write, also I got the NAS primarily to store my hundreds of movies using PLEX and other general backups photos.
FYI – my Ethernet cables are VANDESAIL CAT8 Ethernet Cables, High Speed 20Gbps STP RJ45 Gigabit Network Cable with Gold Plated Connector for Switch/Router/ Modem/Patch Panel (2m/ 6.5ft, White CAT8 3P). – Also using Ubiquiti products for switches, security gateway and 4 UniFi AP-SHD
If I did get the wrong WD Black 1TBGB High-Performance NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD – Gen3, 8 Gb/s – WDS100T2X0C – which recommendation for top of the line line SSD say 2 TB x2 can I install on my M2D18 ?, thanking you kindly
You need to be careful when choosing M.2 SSD for the M2D18 card. Some NAS will support NVMe SSD and some will not. There might be a firmware update in the future but now you need to check the compatibility. In this case, DS1817+ does support only SATA type M.2 SSD like :
