Difference between the Synology SNV3400-400G and SNV3500-400G Synology SSD

Synology SSD

Can You tell me the difference between the Synology SNV3400-400G and SNV3500-400G SSD except the size? I saw in the specifications only one thing, the “Power Loss Protection” What exactly is this?

The only difference between these is the size.

SNV3400 M.2 2280 NVMe SSD, tailored for Synology Desktop NAS with built-in M.2 slots.   Availability  –  UK   USA

SNV3500 M.2 22110 NVMe SSD, built for  Synology rackmount NAS.    Availability  –  UK   USA

Ifyou plan on using one or another inside E10M20-T1 card then both will work. Card supports both sizes 80mm (SNV3400) and 110mm (SNV3500)

  1. Hi. Thank you for this. I have mistakenly purchased an SNV3500 vs SNV3400 for my DS923+. It seems there will be no difference in capability of the drives, just size. While not recommended I’m sure, I can take out the SSD clip from either bay and secure the longer SNV3500 with other means. Will DSM recognize and support this drive for storage pool usage in my DS923+, or does Synology read the drive model and refuse to utilize it in non-supported NAS devices? Thanks!

      1. Thank you for the reply, and I can confirm this now. This is great news, as these drives are significantly cheaper than the 3400 series! Cheers.
