Does the Terramaster allow additional drive to be added later

Does the Terramaster F4-220 allow additional drive to be added later without reformatting original raid 5 array? Does any other raid type allow adding drives without reformat? Purchasing soon, but budget only allows a couple of HDD to be purchased at once.

Sorry  there might be some mistake or misunderstanding. You can not add more drives without reformatting the drives. Here is what Terramaster is saying:

(FAQ)

Before you add more drives to the RAID, copy data to another source, then add a additional drive and recreate the RAID. Then you can copy data back and use it. However with Qnap and Synology you can add more drives without reformatting anything. With Synology you can even mix different size drives and have a RAID5 with combined capacities. Not only you can add extra drives, but also replace one or more smaller drives in the RAID with a bigger ones to increase the storage space. You can start with a simple NAS like ds418j and move up the ladder if you need more functionality.
