I am looking to purchase an appliance to store my patient’s health information and my internal business operations. Important things are Hipaa, speed, reliability, recovery, and expandability.
For important data storage, I would always recommend NAS business leader Synology. DS218+ will do the job but will be limited regards to expandability. DS718+ will expand up to 7 drives if needed. It also comes with two LAN ports for faster transfer speed and more reliable connection. Synology software will allow you to create file versioning similarly like Dropbox. This is a great feature for recovering broken or deleted files. You can also encrypt data stored on the NAS blocking any anauthorised person of seeing any data.
