NAS as a server for a project using Unreal Engine

NAS as a server for a project using Unreal Engine

If you wanted to work Unreal Engine directly on the NAS then minimum requirements are as follow:

Recommended Hardware

Operating System Windows 10 64-bit
Processor Quad-core Intel or AMD, 2.5 GHz or faster
Memory 8 GB RAM
Video Card/DirectX Version DirectX 11 or DirectX 12 compatible graphics card

You could use TVS-872N or TVS-1282 NAS from Qnap.

But if you want to use NAS for storage then I would recommend a NAS with 10GbE or Thunderbolt like TVS-872XT (472xt / 672xt). This will work faster than SSD. You would also be able to add more drives as needed. And you would get RAID protection and snapshot technology allowing you to roll back to the previous file on folder versions. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I hope this helps.
