Brand New 9-Bay TS-932X SFP+ 10Gbe NAS from QNAP Announced

New QNAP 9-Bay TS-932X NAS featuring dual SFP+ 10Gbe ports, dedicated SSD Bays and HDD Bays for 2018

With QNAP currently holding the position of ‘NAS innovators’, it will come as no surprising that their growing range of 10Gbe NAS devices have spawned another brand new 9-Bay NAS for 2018. It looks like QNAP NAS is going to make a big move to dominate 10 gigbit internet and the new QNAP TS-932X is their latest addition. Featuring dual 10Gbe SFP+ ports, 5 hard drive bays and 4 dedicated SSD bays for their popular NAS tiering system, this unit is really one to stop and pay attention to.  What makes this 9-Bay worth the time though and why is this such a ground breaking device?

New Annapurna Labs AL-324 Quad-Core Processor, 1.7Ghz per core and 64bit in architecture. Also arrives with either a 2GB or 8GB Memory configuration of DDR4 memory.

Despite the ARM based CPU, this device Supports snapshots, tiered storage over the different hard drive and solid state drive media, as well as  many many functions of the QTS 4.3.4 software from surveillance, to large scale fast backups and container station applications.

Specifications of the QNAP TS-932X 9-Bay NAS

The new TS-932X features a number of familiar and new features, all wrapped in this new chassis (also used in the TS-963X). Aimed at being cost effective, yet powerful, the TS-932X is designed to act as the ideal 10Gbe solution for your home or small business. Featuring a file managing specialised chip inside, tiered storage and of course the advantages of the constantly evolving QNAP QTS 4.3.4 software, it is the answer to your speed, power and productivity prayers! Take a look at what you get:

  • Desktop Chassis
  • 5 Hard Drive Bays (3.5″)
  • 4 Dedicated SSD Bays (2.5″)
  • No LCD Panel
  • Multiple LEDs for Power, System Status, Network Access and Drive Behaviour/Health
  • Combination Plastic and Metal Chassis
  • Screwless Drive Trays
  • Front Mounted USB 3.0 USB Copy Button and Port

Ports and Rear of the QNAP TS-932X NAS

If we look at the rear of the device, we see almost all the hardware features and functionality that show that QNAP have concentrated on the priorities of the user here. There is no HDMI or PCIe expansion slot, but this is not a huge surprise as this is not a NAS for entertainments sake, or one lacking in fast connections. Take a look:

  • Single Rear fan with automatic temprature adjustments
  • Rear speaker
  • IOIOI interface port
  • Speaker socket
  • 2x 1Gbe RJ45 LAN
  • 2x SFP+ 10Gbe Port
  • 2x USB 3.0 PortS

Who is the QNAP TS-932X NAS for?

This NAS is not for those looking for DLNA (though it does support it), multimedia needs (does support it though!) and general entertainment use (yep – still can though). This is designed with productivity in mind. Fast backups, fast file access for you and your users, an efficient yet powerful network storage solution – THAT is what the TS-932X from QNAP is for. We are looking forward to hearing more about this NAS as the details emerge and do remember to checkout the 10Gbe 10GBASE-T version, the TS-963X also being released in 2018. With Mac and Windows support, access to all the advantages in home and business with QTS, as well as first and third party app support for surveillance, emails, CRM and CMS systems, this is going to be a no-brainer for those looking for storage and speed for their business at a manageable price point.
