4K surveillance cameras and NAS

4K surveillance and NAS.
I am looking to purchase a 4K NAS surveillance system with six 4K cameras with at least 2 months recordings and what NAS and 4K cameras would you recommend?

Finding a right NAS for 4K surveillance is not a very difficult task. All you need to know is the potential size of the footage. The 4K video will take a lot of space. Old generation encoding cameras will generate around 100TB of surveillance footage in 60 days. This is why it is important to use h265 encoding camera which will consume only 12TB of storage space in 60 days. This will require slower framerate as you normally will see in video files to achieve this much of storage saving.

With more like cinema style video with 20 frames a second- you can expect storage needs around 25TB for 60frame footage.

You will need at least a 4-bay NAS to store all this data. You can choose something simple like ds418j for local playback. Or you can get ds418 with 4K transcoding engine built in for easy remote access.

Here are few 4K h265 cameras I have found on Synology compatibility list. I hope it helps.
