Best Performing NAS

Best Performing NAS. We are a medium sized business looking for a very fast NAS solution. We currently have an older QNAP TS-469 Pro running 4 3TB drives in raid 5. I need to get another NAS drive for 1 more layer of backup, so I figured I would buy something very fast and use the old TS-469 Pro as the backup for it. So, my question is, what is the best performing NAS I can get at a reasonable price? I am currently looking at the QNAP TVS-473e with 500GB M2 SSD Cache, 10GBE card, and I’m trying to decide whether to get SSDs or spinny drives. We use the NAS for PDF, Office docs (word, excel, Visio, etc), and pictures. We don’t stream music or video from the NAS. These files do get accessed regularly from workstations with 1GB connections to a Brocade switch with 10GBE uplink capability. I want to spend money on the NAS to the point that the office PCs and workstations will notice it. Any advice is greatly appreciated since I am not a NAS drive expert.

The absolute best would be one of the x82 series models. They come with i3,i5 and i7 CPU options and PCI slots. It tiered storage functionality is also amazing (automatically moving frequently used data on SSD).  In your case, a single 10GbE port would make a big difference. This is also an investment for another 5-10 years. TVS-473e  is a cheaper option but also very good. SSD caching will automatically copy frequently accessed data speeding things up 5 times. The 10GbE card will be necessary to use this improved transfer speeds. The 10GbE card costs around 100 and is compatible not only with a NAS but also PCs. It also comes with dual PCI slots allowing you to create tiered storage as well.
