Compatible NAS with M1 chip

NAS and M1 chip

We are high volume photographers looking for a back up and work station. all of our MAcs now have the M1 processor. DO the current NAs interface well with the M1 ? I am asking because we recently discovered that our ultra fast reader does not have a driver to support the M1, and since we are looking to invest in a NAS we don’t want to find out after the fact that a certain one does not communicate with our computers as efficiently as it could because of the processor.

This is the beauty of NAS systems. There is no compatibility issues. It uses its own file system that is translated into network protocols such as SMB/ AFP. This way you can upload file from a MAC and download those files on a Windows and it will work. If you choose Thunderbolt NAS such as 72XT series from Qnap, you get a choice to connect directly without a switch or via 10GbE gaining fast speeds over longer distances.

Having Intel based processor will also make this NAS a multimedia friendly option. You will be able to use things like face recognition and transcoding and more.
