TerraMaster Launches TOS 5.1: New hardware decoding driver, USB storage pools, updated Docker engine, new AI engine and more

Exciting news for tech enthusiasts! TerraMaster has just released the latest version of their operating system, TOS 5.1, packed with an array of new features and upgrades that will surely enhance your user experience.

One of the most significant upgrades is the kernel update, which has been optimized to support EXT4/Btrfs/NTFs file systems and SMB3 file servers. The new kernel also enables Apple M1 SoC functionality under Linux and adds USB 4 interface support, providing users with faster and more efficient data transfer.

The new hardware decoding driver for Intel Jasper Lake GPU is another impressive upgrade that significantly improves 4K video hardware decoding capability for TerraMaster NAS. Users can also expand their storage pool via USB by connecting TerraMaster USB disk arrays that support TRAID/RAID 0/RAID 1/RAID 5/RAID 6 array modes and provide 10Gb storage bandwidth.

TerraMaster has also introduced their unique SSD cache acceleration tool, Hyper Cache, which can provide up to three cache modes to suit different usage needs, and can also create disk arrays for SSDs to increase cache speed and security. The optimized system messages are now categorized into four levels: information, success, error, and warning, each marked with a more eye-catching symbol of different colors.

The new version also optimizes the mounting of USB partitions, where the system records the path of the last mounted USB partition, providing more storage space for the use and backup of USB. The Docker Manager has also been updated to bring it in line with users’ aesthetics and usage habits, making container deployment more flexible.

Last but not least, TOS 5.1 replaced the more powerful Intel OpenVINO AI computing engine, combined with the new Terra Photos application, the intelligent photo recognition efficiency increased by 30%.

TerraMaster’s TOS 5.1 has set a new standard for NAS operating systems, and we can’t wait to see what new and exciting features TerraMaster will bring to the table in the future. So what are you waiting for? Upgrade your system now and experience the next level of NAS performance.
