The Synology DS718+ serves as the follow up to he popular Synology DS716+ NAS that was released way back in 2015. This device was then improved again with the release of the improved CPU version, the Synology DS716+II NAS in spring on 2016. The newly available DS718+ has every likelihood to be even better with an improved and more efficient CPU, meaning operations such as VM ware and setting up your own Plex Media server will be smoother than ever before on this Synology 2-Bay.
