NAS for security cameras, backup and Emby/Plex
Looking to setup 4 security cameras with notification and such. They would also like to have backup and media server abilities.
I need a box, drives and camera solution. Up to 600usd for the box. Please select the cameras and drives to best match the setup.
For a multi-purpose solution like this, you will need to choose regular NAS drives such as WD red or Seagate Ironwolf. If it was surveillance only solution- than WD Purple drives would be on the recommendation list.
NAS itself could be Synology DS918+ (or DS418play as a budget option) or TS-453Be from Qnap. If you prefer your Surveillance to be connected to the monitors directly or movies to be played to a non-smart TV via HDMI then Qnap is a good solution. But if you prefer to access cameras on the move via the browser or an app then Synology will surprise yours with their user-friendliness in their software.
Recommended cameras would be Amcrest , Foscam and Wansview cameras:
