NAS with SFP+ port
I have a Netgear Nighthawk X10 r9000 wireless router that has an SFP+ port on the back for connecting a NAS. It also has Link Aggregation connectivity. Can you recommend a 4 bay NAS that would take advantage of the SFP+ port? Or would connecting via Link Aggregation be just as fast? Considering these units – synology ds918+ or qnap ts-453be
DS918+ could be connected via link aggregated 1GbE ports giving 2Gbit speed.
TS-453Be can be upgraded with 10GbE SFP+ or RJ45 type of connection LAN card. This would give 10GbE bandwidth and speed would depend on the media inside the NAS.
NAS with SFP+ port is very often a slow NAS, made for fast backups only. You will ned to look for a SFP+ card or get a 10Gbase ethernet connected NAS and an adapter from SFP+ to RJ45. I have added links to those adapter bellow.
In order to get the best speed out of 10G you will need a decent CPU. Qnap 53B with Celeron would be a good starting point.
Here are the SFP+ cards:
