NAS for Plex on a Budget

NAS for Plex specifically

Hi!

I'm relatively new to the NAS world, but I love technology, so I pick up quick. I recently came to
the decision that I need to get a NAS as a home media solution. There's so many options that my mind
has been successfully boggled. Both my father and I love movies, and so I download them for him
whenever I'm home, but since I'm in college, it's not very often. The NAS would alleviate this problem
substantially. It would be for me in my own home to use on my new TV (samsung 4k with plex app) and
then for him to connect to and watch movies in 1080p with plex. I'd also get him a roku streaming
stick so hopefully there wont be many file playing issues, as most of the files I download are .mkv
and .mp4

Ideally, I could also connect with HDMI and play videos in 4k without needing to transcode, but it's
not a huge priority. I'm more than happy just using my own external hard drive for 4k footage and
plugging it directly to the TV.

Just to sum it up, I'd like something that can easily stream plex in 1080p to a few different
devices at a time, something relatively inexpensive, and maybe has an HDMI port that I can use
to play 4k files on my own TV.

$400

4 TB

Thank you for getting in touch. First and foremost, it is going to be tough to stay in that budget and give you everything you want. THere are certainly many NAS in or under £250 that will do most of what you are requesting, but in order to cover all those bases, you will need to go closer to 500 and above. It is also worth mentioning that you will need to spend a little more for storage media too. Below is the best of the best to stay within your budget:
