I'm contemplating upgrading to this NAS and want to max 24TB in 12 slots QuTSHero RAID6. I am wondering if 24TB WD Gold is supported evBuilt this exact system with NVMe 1TB drives. Multiple attempts at setting up RAID5 have worked only to fail during writes of larger files. Tried diI currently use a Synology DS211j - which I have been using for a number of years.
It only has 6 TB of HDD in it (2x3TB) - and it VERY slow within DUpgrading to the QNAP TS-216G-US should speed up your backups, especially if the DS416J is bottlenecking at gigabit speeds. If you’re hitting the 4-Synology and Terramaster are great for mixed drives, but consider Unraid if you want more flexibility. For RAM, 16GB is a good bet. As for the F6-424,The DS923+ is a solid choice! Check if your WD drives are compatible and back everything up first. For new drives, consider Seagate IronWolf or WD RedHi,
